Super Bowl LVI betting preview |

After a surprising run through the playoffs the Cincinnati Bengals will try to win their first Super Bowl title in franchise history when they face the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

If the Bengals are going to do it, they will have to get it done as an underdog after they were listed as 4-point dogs in the big game. The Bengals punched their ticket to the Super Bowls after upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 as a 7-point underdog in the AFC Championship.

Following that win the Bengals are 6-1 straight up and 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games. Five of those SU wins came as the underdog. As an underdog this season Cincinnati was 7-4 SU and 8-3 ATS.

If you’re a total bettor hopefully you’ve been riding the Under on the Bengals lately. Cincinnati has posted four straight Under, and they’re 6-2 Under in their last eight. On the road they’re 8-2 Under in their last 10.

The Bengals other two Super Bowl appearances both ended in defeat. Way back in Super Bowl XVI in 1982 Cincinnati lost to Joe Montana’s San Francisco 49ers 26-21 as a 1-point underdog. Seven years later in 1989 in Super Bowl XXIII they faced San Francisco again and lost 20-16 as a 7-point underdog.

The Rams are playing at home in the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. They will hope to follow Tampa Bay who became the first team to win a Super Bowl in their home stadium just last year.

Los Angeles advanced to the Super Bowl after edging San Francisco 20-17 as a 3.5-point favorite in the NFC Championship. The Rams are 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine games. At home they’re 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five, and this season at SoFi Stadium they went 7-3 SU and 5-5 ATS. For total bettors they are 6-1 Under in their last seven home games.

The Rams last Super Bowl appearance was in 2019 when they lost to the New England Patriots 13-3 as a 2.5-point underdog. Los Angeles has appeared in four previous Super Bowls overall and has posted a 1-3 SU record and a 0-3-1 ATS record.

The Rams and Bengals last met up in 2019 and the Rams won 24-10 as a 12-point home favorite. In the last seven matchups between them the Rams are 4-3 SU and 5-1-1 ATS. For total bettors the Under has been the way to go in this matchups, with fives straight Under and a 7-1 Under in the last eight.

In the last five Super Bowls the favorite has gone 3-2 SU and ATS. If you look back further it’s much bleaker for the favorites who went 3-7 SU and ATS in the last 10 Super Bowls.
